Kou and Daisuke Social Link

In Persona 4 Golden the Strength Social Link is Kou Ichijo if you join the basketball club or Daisuke Nagase if you join soccer, open from Apr 19; you can only have one, and rank 10 lets you fuse Zaou-Gongen.

In Persona 4 Golden the Strength Social Link belongs to whichever sports club you join: the basketball club makes it Kou Ichijo's, the soccer club makes it Daisuke Nagase's, and you can only join one per playthrough. Clubs open once you speak to your teacher on or after Apr 19, per RPG Site, and either friend's rank 10 item lets you fuse Zaou-Gongen. It matters early for another reason: reaching Strength rank 4 is what introduces Ai Ebihara and the Moon link. Persona 4 Revival keeps the Social Links: Atlus says every link event is newly voiced, and Atlus has not said anything specific about the sports clubs.

Kou or Daisuke: which club should you join?

The choice is mostly about which story you want, because both links pay the same reward and both open the Moon link at rank 4. The friend you did not pick is never a Social Link of your own in that playthrough. Basketball is the more forgiving of the two in RPG Site's answer list, since it gives points at nearly every rank, while Daisuke has two ranks with no choices at all. Daisuke's rank 5 to 6 best answer needs Understanding 4, so a player who has neglected Social Stats may find Kou easier.

How to start the Strength link

On a school day on or after Apr 19, speak to your teacher in the school office to unlock the clubs. Then go to the first floor (RPG Site calls it the Learning Building) and sign up for either the basketball club or the soccer club. The cultural clubs, which lead to the Sun link, open from Apr 25 and are a separate choice.

Which days are Kou and Daisuke available?

Guides disagree, so check your calendar in game. RPG Site gives Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday for both. TheGamer splits them: Kou after school on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday, Daisuke on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Siliconera gives Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, sometimes Wednesday. All agree the sports clubs do not meet on rainy days.

Rewards and missable books

The Strength link gives no combat skills: its reward is the rank 10 key item, the Letter to Kou or the Spike Brush, which lets you fuse Zaou-Gongen in the Velvet Room, plus the usual extra experience when fusing Strength Personas as the rank climbs (see Persona Fusion). RPG Site also warns that the link gates three books that must be picked up at certain ranks at certain times, so a player hunting every book should keep this link moving through the spring and summer.

The Strength link in Persona 4 Revival

Atlus's Japanese site says every Social Link event in Persona 4 Revival is newly voiced, and director Kazuhisa Wada told PCGamesN on Aug 26, 2026 that the links are largely unchanged, with "little bits and pieces" added to some. Atlus has not said whether the one-club rule, the days or the answers above change, and no Revival walkthrough exists before its Feb 18, 2027 release. Every guide cited here is for Persona 4 Golden; none covers how the PS2 Persona 4's version differs.

Frequently asked questions
