Persona Fusion

6:16 In Persona 4 Golden you fuse Personas in the Velvet Room: two or more Personas you carry become one new Persona, its level can never exceed the protagonist's, it inherits some of its parents' skills, and it starts stronger the closer you are to the Social Link of its arcana, per TheGamer's combat tips. Beyond the normal two-way fusion, Golden has triple fusions and larger special fusions of four, five, six and, for Izanagi-no-Okami, twelve Personas. Golden added Skill Cards, which Marie uses to teach Personas skills. Persona 4 Revival (Feb 18, 2027) keeps the core: Atlus's Japanese site lists fusing Personas in the Velvet Room among the systems it carries over, but Atlus has not published Revival's fusion charts or said whether Skill Cards return.

How fusion works

9:24 Choose fusion in the Velvet Room, pick the Personas you hold, and the game shows what they make before you confirm. The result's arcana and level follow from the parents, and you cannot make a Persona above your own level, so a recipe from a guide only opens once you are strong enough (TheGamer). Now and then a fusion goes wrong and gives something else: Golden has an achievement for it, "The Nose Doesn't Always Know", which 30.2% of Steam players had on Nov 3, 2026.

Normal, triple and special fusions

Special fusions make Personas a normal recipe cannot, among them several of the best: Yoshitsune, TheGamer's pick for physical attacks, is a five-Persona fusion, and Trumpeter, Margaret's last request, takes six (Matador, White Rider, Daisoujou, Pabilsag, Taowu and Taotie). See Best Personas.

Skill inheritance

4:20 A new Persona keeps some of its parents' skills alongside its own, which is how you build a Persona with exactly the spells you want. Check the inherited skills in the fusion preview before you confirm. Margaret's requests are built on this: each asks for a specific Persona carrying a specific skill, such as a Neko Shogun with Bufula, which RPG Site makes by first fusing a Kusi Mitama that holds Bufula (RPG Site).

The Social Link bonus

A freshly fused Persona gets bonus EXP from the Social Link of its arcana, so it can level up on the spot, and a maxed link gives the most, per RPG Site. TheGamer advises waiting to fuse a Persona until its link has risen. Maxing a link also opens the strongest Persona of that arcana, usually through an item the friend gives at rank 10: the Spiral Brooch from Margaret allows Isis, and Marie's Bamboo Comb allows Kaguya. The Compendium

Every Persona you hold can be registered in the Compendium and bought back later for money through Margaret, so register a Persona before you fuse it away. The Steam achievements "Moderate Bookkeeper" and "Thorough Bookkeeper" are for half and all of the Compendium (TheGamer's achievement guide). Shuffle Time after battles adds Personas you can then register (TheGamer).

Skill Cards (Persona 4 Golden only)

Skill Cards are new in Persona 4 Golden: each teaches a Persona one skill, such as a fire spell or healing. They come from Shuffle Time and from Chagall Cafe, and Marie can register a card in the Velvet Room and copy it for a fee, per Siliconera (Nov 13, 2012). Registering a card with her earns "A Favor for Marie", held by 51.5% of Steam players on Nov 3, 2026. Cards let you skip a long inheritance chain for one missing skill.

Fusion in Persona 4 Revival

0:50 Atlus lists fusion in the Velvet Room among Persona 4's systems that Revival keeps (Atlus), and Marie returns (Siliconera, Oct 5, 2026). Atlus has not said whether Golden's Skill Cards, its fusion charts or its special fusions carry over unchanged, as of Nov 3, 2026. Revival's Digital Deluxe Edition adds Personas from Persona 3 Reload and Persona 5 Royal, such as Thanatos, Messiah, Arsène and Satanael (SEGA); see Persona 4 Revival Editions and Price.
