Shu Nakajima is the Tower Social Link in Persona 4 Golden, the student you teach through the Tutor night job: it is posted from May 25 but needs Understanding 5, the top rank of that stat, and runs on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday evenings. That stat gate makes it one of the later links most players start, and his rank 10 item, the Test Results, lets you fuse Shiva. The job pays well and raises Expression and Knowledge on every visit. Persona 4 Revival keeps the Social Links, all newly voiced; Atlus has not said anything about Shu's.

How to unlock Shu: the tutoring job

The Tutor job is listed from May 25, but you cannot take it until Understanding reaches rank 5 (Saintly), so the real start date depends on how you have spent your evenings and days off (see Social Stats). TheGamer's Understanding guide lists the ways up: folding origami cranes at home, the daycare job, petting the cat outside the Dojima house at night when Dojima is out, cleaning up after sports practice, eating at Aiya on rainy days, and books. Once you qualify, take the bus from Shopping District South to Shu's house on a Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday evening.

When is Shu available?

Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday evenings, per RPG Site, TheGamer and Siliconera, Guides differ on rain: RPG Site's Tower guide says not on rainy days, while Siliconera says the weather does not matter. Each visit pays 10,000 yen, the best pay of the evening jobs in RPG Site's list (the hospital pays 4,000 to 8,000).

What subject should you teach Shu?

At rank 1 you pick a subject: math, English or PE. All three raise Expression and Knowledge; PE also raises Diligence, so it gives the most, and it helps reach Diligence 5 for the stay-and-help answer at the next rank.

Before rank 9, RPG Site says an extra scene at Shu's house has to play, and the link will not rise during it, so expect one tutoring night without a rank-up.

Rewards

Rank 10 gives the Test Results, which lets you fuse Shiva in the Velvet Room, and the top bonus when fusing Tower Personas (see Persona Fusion and Best Personas). The link gives no battle skills and has no romance. The job's pay and stat gains are a reward of their own.

Shu's link in Persona 4 Revival

Atlus's Japanese site says Persona 4 Revival records every Social Link event with new voices, and director Kazuhisa Wada told PCGamesN on Aug 26, 2026 the links are largely unchanged, with "little bits and pieces" added to some. Atlus has not said whether Revival keeps the Understanding 5 gate, the pay or the subject choice, and has not named Shu's voice, before its Feb 18, 2027 release. Every guide here is for Persona 4 Golden; none says how the PS2 Persona 4's version differs.
