Kanji Tatsumi

Kanji Tatsumi is the first-year student with a fearsome delinquent's reputation in Persona 4, an electric and physical heavy hitter whose Persona Take-Mikazuchi becomes Takeji Zaiten in Persona 4 Golden. In Persona 4 Revival he is voiced by Daman Mills in English and Tomokazu Seki in Japanese, and his storyline is reported to be largely unchanged.

Kanji Tatsumi is a first-year high school student in Persona 4 with, in SEGA's words, "a fearsome reputation as a delinquent": rough around the edges but deeply loyal, the son of a textile shop owner who often criticizes his clothes. Pulled into the TV world, he faces his Shadow in the Steamy Bathhouse, joins the Investigation Team in June, and becomes its strongest physical attacker with the electric Persona Take-Mikazuchi. In Persona 4 Revival he is voiced by Daman Mills in English and, as before, Tomokazu Seki in Japanese. Kazuhisa Wada has said the team wanted to go deeper with Kanji, while Kotaku reported on Sep 21, 2026 that Revival will not significantly change his storyline.

Shadow Kanji

In Persona 4 Golden the bathhouse opens on 5/19 and must be cleared by 6/4, with Shadow Kanji on Bath #11 at level 24. He drains electric and nulls light and dark but does not resist physical attacks, so Game Rant suggests physical hits from Chie and the protagonist (Game Rant). Two minions flank him: Nice Guy, which heals and buffs and is weak to ice, and Tough Guy, which attacks and is weak to fire; the fight ends when Kanji falls, so they are optional experience. His Forbidden Murmur poisons the men in the party, Roar of Wrath enrages the women, and a Power Charge means Swift Strike is next, so guard (TheGamer). The dungeon is on Steamy Bathhouse. The clip is BuffMaister's fight in Persona 4 Golden on PC at Very Hard.

Take-Mikazuchi and his skills

Kanji fights with electric magic, up to Ziodyne, and heavy physical skills such as Primal Force in Persona 4 Golden (TheGamer); he learns Elec Amp at level 75 and gets Power Charge from his Social Link at rank 6 (TheGamer). TheGamer's dungeon parties use him as the main striker from Marukyu Striptease on, and in the Hollow Forest, where SP is halved after every battle, his physical attacks carry the team (TheGamer). Maxing his link evolves Take-Mikazuchi; Golden's third form, Takeji Zaiten, absorbs electric, is weak to wind and knows The Man's Way, which can leave every enemy Dizzy or Down (Game Rant).

His Emperor link starts after 6/9: talk to the girl by the stairs on Classroom Building 2F, then find him on Practice Building 1F. On days off he is at Tatsumi Textiles, and at rank 8 his mother gives a costume; the rank 10 Cute Strap lets the protagonist fuse Rokuten Maoh and Odin (RPG Site). Answers are on Kanji Social Link.

Kanji in Persona 4 Revival

What Atlus has said about Kanji in Revival is about depth, not change. Wada told Eurogamer, as GamesRadar+ relayed on Sep 9, 2026, that the Persona 4 spin-offs informed Revival's characters and that the team especially wanted to go deeper with Yosuke and Kanji (GamesRadar+). Kotaku reported on Sep 21, 2026 that Revival will not make significant changes to Kanji's and Naoto's arcs, which it says have long drawn debate about queer identity in the series (Kotaku). Wada and art director Akane Kabayashi told PCGamesN they added lines where the original script was unclear and cut others so each character's message reads more clearly, without changing "core identities" (PCGamesN, Aug 26, 2026).

Kanji's character trailer arrived on Sep 5, 2026, the day of the "ATLUS Presents: Persona 4 Revival Live" show (RPG Site). Daman Mills replaces Troy Baker, Kanji's English voice in Persona 4 and Golden.
