Yosuke Hanamura

Yosuke Hanamura is the protagonist's outspoken classmate and first ally in Persona 4, a wind user whose Persona Jiraiya evolves into Susano-o and, in Persona 4 Golden, Takehaya Susano-o. In Persona 4 Revival he is voiced by Paul Castro Jr. in English and Showtaro Morikubo in Japanese.

His Persona is Jiraiya, a wind user, which evolves into Susano-o when his Magician Social Link is maxed and, in Persona 4 Golden, into Takehaya Susano-o. Shadow Yosuke

16:55 Yosuke is the first friend to face his Shadow, and the protagonist fights it alone, newly awakened with Izanagi. In Persona 4 Golden, Shadow Yosuke is weak to electric, so Izanagi's Zio knocks it down; it answers with wind, Izanagi's weakness, and a Power Charge warns of Wind of Oblivion, so the protagonist should guard. TheGamer's guide has him pick "You're still yourself" afterward, and Yosuke awakens to Jiraiya and joins the party (TheGamer). The fight is on Persona 4 Bosses. Jiraiya, Susano-o and Takehaya Susano-o

In Persona 4 Golden Yosuke casts wind, from Garu to Garudyne, and learns Wind Amp at level 73 (TheGamer); his Dekaja from Social Link rank 4 strips enemy buffs. Maxing his link evolves Jiraiya into Susano-o, which, TheGamer says, has no electric weakness, resists fire and nulls wind (TheGamer). Golden added a third form: with the link maxed, talk to him between Jan 10 and Feb 5 and Susano-o becomes Takehaya Susano-o, which absorbs wind, is weak to electric and knows Youthful Wind, healing and speeding the party (Game Rant). The link itself starts on 4/16 and its rank 10 item, the Buddy's Bandage, lets the protagonist fuse Susano-o and Mada (RPG Site); answers are on Yosuke Social Link.

Yosuke in Persona 4 Revival

Atlus says Revival keeps everyone's personality, and Wada has spoken about Yosuke more than once. Wada told Eurogamer, as GamesRadar+ relayed on Sep 9, 2026, that the spin-offs informed the remake's characters and that the team especially wanted to "go more in-depth" with Yosuke and Kanji. He told Anime Corner in July that Yosuke's way of treating outsiders was softened (Anime Corner). He also ruled out a Yosuke romance: adding one would mean doing "all the guys", which he called a lot of additional content (PC Gamer, Sep 1, 2026).

2:11 Paul Castro Jr. was in Atlus's first five English voices on Jun 17, 2026, and narrated the New Features trailer on Aug 11. Yuri Lowenthal, Yosuke's earlier English voice, wrote in May 2025: "I asked. Maybe I even begged" (GamesRadar+).
