Persona 4 Bosses
Every boss in Persona 4 Golden in story order, from Shadow Yosuke to the true final boss, with each one's dungeon, weaknesses, resistances and recommended level, plus the optional bosses. Atlus has not published Persona 4 Revival's boss list.
Spoiler warning: the last rows of the table and the final sections name Persona 4's culprit and true final boss.
Persona 4 Golden has a boss at the end of every dungeon and one or two midbosses inside it, about 25 story fights in all, from Shadow Yosuke on the first night in the TV to Izanami at the bottom of Yomotsu Hirasaka; the table below gives each one's weaknesses, resistances and suggested level from TheGamer's and Game Rant's Persona 4 Golden guides. Most late bosses have no weakness at all and null light and dark, so the fights turn on reading their tells rather than on one element. On top of the story fights come optional bosses on return visits, the Reaper and Margaret, on Optional Bosses. Persona 4 Revival remakes Golden with its story kept, but Atlus has not published its boss list or said whether any fight changes, as of Nov 3, 2026, and the Shadows shown so far are tweaked rather than redesigned (PC Gamer, Sep 2, 2026). The clip is GameSpot's Aug 2026 footage of the Shadow Yosuke fight in a pre-release build of Persona 4 Revival.

What the boss fights have in common
Three habits carry through TheGamer's guides:
- Guard on the tell. Bosses signal their big moves. Shadow Yosuke's Power Charge comes before Wind of Oblivion, Shadow Kanji's before Swift Strike, Shadow Teddie's Ultra Charge two turns before Nihil Hand, and Shadow Mitsuo's colored Wall before turns of that element.
- Cure ailments fast. Fear and its follow-ups decide several fights: Shadow Yukiko's Shivering Rondo, Shadow Mitsuo's and Adachi's Ghastly Wail, and Izanami-no-Okami's Summons to Yomi. Yukiko's Me Patra and Amrita and the Recover perk from rank 5 Social Links are the answers.
- Bring reflection. Makarakarn or a Magic Mirror turns Shadow Naoto's Mute Ray and Kunino-sagiri's Quad Convergence back on them.
Back-to-back fights with no recovery come three times: Shadow Rise into Shadow Teddie, Adachi into Ameno-sagiri, and the two halves of Marie's fight. Heal before the first one ends. The clip is BuffMaister's Persona 4 Golden run on PC at Very Hard, from Shadow Rise's end to Shadow Teddie.
Boss tips in brief
- Shadow Yukiko: guard turn one against Burn to Ashes, kill Charming Prince with electric, then Chie's ice. See Yukiko's Castle.
- Shadow Kanji: kill Nice Guy first, then physical attacks, since he drains electric (Game Rant). See Steamy Bathhouse.
- Shadow Rise: guard three turns through Supreme Insight and the fight ends. See Marukyu Striptease.
- Shadow Mitsuo: switch away from the element his Wall protects; hit him while he rebuilds his hero. See Void Quest.
- Shadow Naoto: electric for 125% damage, reflect Mute Ray, heal after Element Zero. See Secret Laboratory.
- Kunino-sagiri: Direct Command on before Control. See Heaven.
- Adachi and Ameno-sagiri: cure fear and silence, heal before Adachi falls, buff during the Fog. See Magatsu Inaba.
- Izanami: cure ailments at once, no electric in phase two; Thousand Curses at critical health means the fight is won. See Yomotsu Hirasaka.
Optional bosses
Every cleared dungeon can hold a new boss on a return visit (TheGamer). The ones TheGamer covers in Persona 4 Golden:
| Optional boss | Where | Level | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Contrarian King | Yukiko's Castle, second visit | 17 | Drains fire; nulls wind, light, dark |
| Intolerant Officer | Steamy Bathhouse, second visit | 27 | Strong to almighty |
| Momentary Child | Marukyu Striptease, 11F | ||
| Escapist Soldier | Void Quest, second run | 47 | Ice and wind do extra damage; nulls light, dark |
| Extreme Vessel | Secret Laboratory, B9F |

Two more fights are the game's hardest. The Reaper comes for parties that open 20 chests in one trip and wants at least level 75 (Screen Rant); Margaret, of the Velvet Room, can be fought only in New Game Plus with her Empress link maxed (TheGamer). Both are on Optional Bosses. The clip is BuffMaister's Margaret fight in Persona 4 Golden on PC at Very Hard.
Bosses in Persona 4 Revival
Atlus has shown one Revival boss fight in previews: Shadow Chie in Yukiko's Castle, which RPG Site and PC Gamer reached at Gamescom 2026 (RPG Site, Aug 26, 2026), after the opening Shadow Yosuke fight RPG Site also played. Revival adds Baton Pass and Prime Time to battles (Atlus), so boss strategies written for Golden may not carry over exactly; see Persona 4 Revival Battle System. The clip is GameSpot's Aug 2026 footage of a pre-release build of Persona 4 Revival.
